About Stephen
I am a California credentialed math teacher with over 15 years of experience tutoring students of all levels. I have taught in both K–12 and college classrooms, working with students ranging from elementary math to AP Calculus. These days, I focus on grades 5–9, where I help students build confidence and master the foundational skills they need before moving on to higher math.
My approach is patient and straightforward. I believe every student can succeed in math once the gaps in their understanding are filled. I take the time to listen, figure out where they are struggling, and meet them there. No judgment, just clear explanations and a lot of encouragement.
I have worked with students who are behind, students who want to get ahead, and everything in between. Whether your child needs help with pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, or test prep for the SAT or ACT, I bring the same professionalism and care to every session.

I have been tutoring for over 15 years and hold a California teaching credential in mathematics. I focus on grades 5–9, where math shifts from arithmetic to algebra—topics I know well and can explain clearly. My approach is simple: I figure out where a student is getting stuck, fill that gap, and build back up from there. I let students set the pace, work through problems together, and end each session with a quick recap so they actually remember what we covered. I also help with test prep for the SAT, ACT, and MAP assessments. Mostly, I try to replace math anxiety with clarity.
