About MrTeach

Hi, I’m MrKenny with MrTeach Homework Help & Tutoring. I’ve been a California credentialed teacher since 2007, helping students build academic skills, confidence, and independence.

I specialize in working one-on-one with K–8 students. I believe effective tutoring starts with getting to know the student—not just the assignment. I take the time to understand how each child learns, where they may be getting stuck, and what will help them experience success.

My approach is patient, encouraging, and structured. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. Just as importantly, I want parents to understand what we are working on and why.

I believe the best tutoring relationship is a good fit for you, your child, and me. I am fingerprint-cleared through the California DOJ and FBI, and I take seriously the trust families place in me when I work with their children. My goal is to help each student become more confident, capable, and independent.

Every student learns math differently, so I begin by finding out what your child already understands, where the gaps are, and what may be causing frustration or confusion. Using my teacher training and experience, I conduct an initial informal evaluation to identify strengths, skill gaps, misconceptions, and the areas where support will make the greatest difference.

A typical session begins with a quick check-in and review, followed by focused instruction, guided practice, and opportunities for your child to solve problems independently. I use questioning, visual models, examples, and step-by-step practice, adjusting my approach and pace until the concept makes sense to the student.

School assignments can certainly be part of our work, but my goal is not simply to finish tonight’s homework. I focus on strengthening the underlying math skills and understanding so students become more confident, capable, and increasingly independent.

Lessons are designed for K–8 students and may include arithmetic, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, problem solving, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and other grade-level math skills.

Details

Standard tutoring sessions are 60 minutes. The first 60-minute session is completely free and gives you, your child, and me an opportunity to work together, identify your child’s needs, and see if we’re a good fit. There is no obligation to continue.

The 5- and 10-hour options shown above are priced at my standard hourly rate. MrTeach also offers an 8-session package for $353, providing approximately 10% savings compared with individual sessions.

Charter school funds are accepted, and there is no additional travel charge within my regular service area.
