I specialize in teaching virtual crochet classes for all ages and levels — whether you’re just getting started or looking to expand your skills and creativity. I’ve been crocheting since I was a kid, and over the years I’ve created everything from custom bags to detailed wall tapestries. Now, I love sharing that knowledge with others. My teaching style is patient, visual, and hands-on. I explain each stitch clearly, offer real-time guidance, and create a friendly, low-pressure space where everyone feels comfortable learning — even if you’ve never picked up a hook before. In every class, I encourage questions, celebrate progress, and remind my students that mistakes are part of the journey. Whether you’re 8 or 80, if you’re ready to create something beautiful, I’m here to help you every step of the way. Let’s crochet together! ¡Hola! Soy Nicole, estudiante de primer año de universidad y una apasionada del crochet con más de cinco años de experiencia. Ofrezco clases virtuales para todas las edades y niveles — ya seas principiante o quieras mejorar y explorar tu creatividad con el tejido. Empecé a tejer cuando era niña, y con el tiempo he creado desde bolsos personalizados hasta tapices decorativos con mucho detalle. Me encanta compartir lo que sé y ayudar a otras personas a descubrir lo bonito que es este arte. Mi forma de enseñar es muy visual, paciente y práctica. Hook & Create: A Crochet Workshop Series Taught by Nicole Orta All Ages Welcome | No Experience Needed (Para español, sigue leyendo ) Whether you’ve never touched a hook or you're looking to take your skills to the next level, this three-class series has something for everyone. All classes are beginner-friendly and family-friendly — kids, teens, and adults are welcome! I teach 3 different types of classes: beginner, intermediate, and advanced Class 1: Beginner — "Let’s Get Hooked!" What You’ll Learn: Yarn types and hook sizes How to hold your hook and yarn comfortably Slip knot, chain stitch, and single crochet A simple, fun first project (like a square or coaster) Perfect for: Total beginners or anyone needing a refresher Materials: For this class you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. note: for beginners, I recommend to get a hook that is 5mm or more. When it comes to yarn, avoid using dark colors like black. Aim for light colors! (to figure out what yarn you should use look at the label and look for a crochet hook, it should recommend the hook size you can use for that specific yarn.) Class 2: Intermediate — "Stitch & Build" What You’ll Learn: New stitches: double crochet, half double, treble Magic circle, increases and decreases Intro to reading patterns and combining stitches Make a project like a granny square, tote, or hat Perfect for: Anyone who knows the basics and wants to try more Materials: Bring your favorite yarn and hook Class 3: Advanced — "Design & Freestyle" What We’ll Do: Less instruction, more creativity Learn how to read or create different types of patterns Explore writing your own patterns or making unique designs Open work time with one-on-one help and guidance Perfect for: Confident crocheters ready to push their creativity Bring: Your own materials and a project idea — or just come with an open mind! What makes my tutoring unique is the blend of structure and creativity I bring — and how I make sure everyone feels seen and supported, even in a virtual space. I don’t just teach patterns — I help people build confidence, experiment, and enjoy the art of crochet. My own experience designing detailed tapestries and wearable pieces means I can offer insight beyond the basics, inspiring students to think like artists. Plus, I create a low-pressure, judgment-free zone — it's okay to mess up, ask the same question twice, or take your time. REMEMBER: these classes are for everyone, no matter your age! Most important thing of all (this applies to any of my classes you take) don't be afraid to make mistakes!! Making mistakes is the best way to learn. If you're struggling with your project don't be afraid to ask me or any of your peers if that's what makes you feel more comfy.
