About Ada
I hold a PhD in Cuban Cinema (ongoing) at a French university, focusing on Latin American film, social issues, and cultural studies. I also earned a Master in Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) from the University of Barcelona, where I designed teaching units for B2 level students and received DELE examiner accreditation (A1–C2 levels). Previously, I completed an MBA in Accounting and Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in History and Humanities with a pedagogical profile, and technical studies in Library and Information Science at the University of Havana. My French language training includes DALF (advanced French proficiency), C1-level studies, translation specialization, and professional/business French diplomas certified by the Chambre de Commerce et Industrie de Paris. All my diplomas have been homologated by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
Alongside my academic background, I bring extensive professional experience in finance and international business, combined with expertise in Latin American culture, education, and tourism. My interdisciplinary studies, from language and history to cinema and business, allow me to teach, research, and provide consulting in a variety of areas, including Spanish language instruction, translation, cultural analysis, and Latin American film studies. I am fully mobile and eager to collaborate in academic, educational, or professional projects worldwide.

Since the late nineteenth century, Cuba has been at the center of a number of key epochal disputes: between colonialism and independence, racism and racial justice, neocolonialism and revolution, liberalism and socialism, isolationism and globalization. In the arts, the turn of the century launched a period of great aesthetic invention. Considering the singular place of Cuba in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the globe, this course addresses some of the most representative works of Cuban literature and film since independence until the present time. Special attention will be given to Afrocubanismo, ethnographic literature, the avant-garde aesthetics of the group Orígenes, Marvelous Realism, testimony, revolution, socialist experimental film, diaspora, the Special Period, and post-Soviet life.

Ada is an exceptional Spanish teacher who is both knowledgeable and patient. He makes lessons engaging with interesting and timely topics, and adapts to individual learning styles. I highly recommend working with Ada if you can! She makes Cuban Spanish easier.
I look forward to my Spanish classes with Ada because she makes learning a new language fun yet also makes sure I fully grasp a concept before moving on. I am grateful for Ada's kindness and patience, as I am still learning the basics of Spanish.
I've been meeting with Ada for a month now for Spanish tutoring, and I'm very happy with her tutoring work. When it comes to explaining grammar, she is very knowledgeable and clear. She's also great at making our sessions comfortable enough to do a lot of conversation practice. I feel like my Spanish is improving dramatically!
Ada has been extremely helpful and patient with me during our lessons. In just a short time I feel like I have learned so much. She really takes the time for you to understand it, and I’m excited to continue to take more lessons throughout the year. I would recommend Ada as a tutor to anyone who is looking to start learning Spanish, especially from a beginner level and for students having Spanish as their parents language!
Ada is a fabulous teacher. She makes lessons fun and relatable. She's really excellent teaching Spanish as inherited language, in my case my mom came from Cuba! I've recovered a part of my culture, my roots, that I thought completely lost! Tks Ada!
Ada is a fantastic Spanish teacher which I highly recommend. She is very patient and has tailored all my classes to my specific needs. Her teaching style is very effective and never dull. I can honestly state that my Spanish has greatly improved and I feel much more confident when speaking, reading and writing it. Thank you Ada!
I cannot sing Ada's praises enough. Not only have I improved in just the three weeks since I've started picking up my Spanish classes with her, but I feel so much more confident and admittedly a little less alone in our current times of uncertain quarantine and isolation. Ada is incredibly kind and patient, and each of her lessons leaves me driven to learn more and more. Remarkably her sessions are also personal, which really helps. She remembers small things like how my parents were in town, that I have siblings, my dog and cat, and that my own family is from Cuba. I just realized she also speaks French, and I hope that after this, I can get her to teach me that too. ¡Recomiendo a Ada para todos los que quieran aprender:)!
