About Ali
I'm someone who's always enjoyed maths — not just solving problems, but figuring out why something works, which is exactly the mindset I try to pass on to my students. I started tutoring because I noticed how many students get stuck not from lack of ability, but because they've never been given the space to work things out for themselves and build real confidence in their own reasoning.
Outside of tutoring, I play a lot of tennis and am very health conscious of my body and mind. I'm patient, easy to talk to, and genuinely enjoy the moment when a concept finally "clicks" for a student.
I'm looking forward to working with Year 6–8 students who want to build a stronger, more confident grasp of maths — whether that's keeping on top of school work, preparing for upcoming exams, or just feeling less daunted by the subject.

My lessons are aimed at students aged 10–13 (Years 6–8), a stage where building real understanding matters more than memorising rules. Rather than simply telling a student how to solve a problem, I encourage them to think it through for themselves — trying an approach, noticing what works and what doesn't, and gradually building the confidence to reason their own way to an answer. This makes the learning stick, and it helps students develop problem-solving skills they can use well beyond the topic in front of them.
Each lesson runs for 40 minutes, which is a great length for this age group — long enough to properly get into a topic, short enough to keep focus and energy high. I tailor each session to the student: revisiting tricky concepts from school, working through homework together, or building up core skills ahead of upcoming topics or tests.
I'm newer to tutoring, but I bring genuine enthusiasm for maths and a real interest in how students think — which I believe makes me a great fit for learners who want to actually understand the subject, not just get through it.
