About Alexis
Hi! My name is Alexis and I am a cellist from Casper, Wyoming. I started cello in kindergarten, when I discovered that you could sit and play at the same time :0 My parents play the violin and viola professionally, so I have grown up in a musical environment and absolutely love playing classical music with my family, as well as participating in campfire jams with friends. I am currently studying with Brandon Vamos, cellist of the Grammy Award winning Pacifica Quartet. Before that, I went to high school at Interlochen Arts Academy. I am an avid orchestral musician and was lucky enough to tour with the National Youth Orchestra of the USA, and got to perform in Carnegie Hall, and at BBC Proms. At Indiana University, I have served as both principal and assistant principal cellist of several school orchestras. I have taken several cello pedagogy courses whilst being at school, and I can’t wait to start teaching more to help others learn about the cello!

- My teaching method is all about showing my students that they are capable of so much more than they think with consistency and positive encouragement!
- As a yoga enthusiast, I take a whole-body approach to the mechanics of the instrument and aim to help students play as relaxed and tension-free as possible
- I can cater my lessons to wherever you are at,(compete beginner, returning after decades, preparing for auditions, etc) and at whatever intensity you desire
- I love playing and learning tunes by ear so if you haven’t read music before I can cater to you or help you learn!
