About Maithili

I am a current student at UC Berkeley, about to enter my second-year. I am currently studying Chemical Engineering, and I am also pursuing a minor in Spanish.

I have a lot of experience with tutoring various subjects, including Math, English/Reading/Language Arts, and Spanish.

I am hard-working, driven, and passionate. I honor my commitments and will put in 110% of my energy and time towards my students. I am very flexible, and respond promptly for any necessary communication.

I am happy to work with students on a trial basis or offer a first "test" lesson for free. My students and their parents can decide after the first lesson if they'd like to continue with me!

About the lesson

I work directly with my students (and their parents) to create a personalized plan for them to both succeed and thrive! I prioritize patience and understanding, and will work with the student at their own pace, while still meeting whatever time-goal we might have set in the beginning. Working with all age ranges, I commit whatever time and energy is necessary for my students to achieve their goals.

My first lesson consists of understanding my student, their goals in their class/classes, and what specific aspects of the subject/learning process is most challenging for them. I then speak with them and their parents to create a detailed plan going forward so that we can meet their goals on time and successfully (and also while having fun learning!)

Some students simply need the material explained to them in a better, more simplified way than their current teachers or textbooks currently present it. Others need to be guided through more practice problems and problem-solving strategies to understand what types of problems come up and how to tackle them. I will cover all of this and more with my student, being ready to pivot and change my strategy if it's not working well to something that will encourage better results!

And most of all, I love to teach and love the subject, so my excitement will fuel my students as well!
