About John
I'm 22 years old, graduated from UW-Madison focusing on chemistry and biochemistry research. I worked as a middle and high school STEM/Math teacher where I gained many skills in teaching and problem-solving learning strategies with my students. I am super friendly and really love every subject I teach in a way that has led previously underperforming students to succeed in courses across the board.

Hi, I’m John — a math and chemistry tutor focused on building real mastery and confidence. My teaching approach is centered on clarity, strategy, and problem-solving. I break down complex concepts into simple, intuitive steps, then teach students how to apply those ideas through guided practice. I focus heavily on reasoning skills, not memorization, so students learn why something works, not just how to do it. How a typical lesson works: I start by quickly identifying where a student is confident and where they feel stuck. From there, I walk them through targeted explanations, example problems, and step-by-step methods. Each lesson ends with a short recap and a few practice problems to reinforce progress. My goal is for every student to leave feeling more capable than when they arrived. What sets me apart: I’m patient, highly analytical, and genuinely invested in helping students understand the material on a deep level. I adapt my teaching style to each student—visual, hands-on, conceptual, or practice-driven—and I give students practical tools they can use on homework, exams, and future classes. Because of my background in chemistry and my mastery in organic chemistry, I bring both advanced scientific insight and clear, approachable explanations. Who my lessons are for: I tutor middle school, high school, and college students in: Algebra II and general math General chemistry Organic chemistry STEM courses Whether you’re aiming to boost your grades, prepare for advanced courses, or finally make sense of topics that haven’t clicked, I structure lessons around your goals and learning style.
