About Via
I am currently studying myself however want to be able to help other people who's education may have been affected by the corona virus. When I was studying for my GCSEs, I knew a lot of my friends and other students who were struggling with some of the maths topics because they couldn't understand what was being explained to them. A lot of them ended up asking me for help and after a while several of them understood it more and were a lot less worried. I think I was more able to help them than the teacher as I had taught myself a lot of the things we needed to know meaning I explained it differently to all the teachers who either didn't adapt their explanations or used complex older methods that just didn't work for some people. Even now in college, I know people who are resitting their maths GCSEs because they didn't understand it the first time round and had no one to help them. The reason I want to help others do the best they can in maths is because I know how difficult it can be when you tell a teacher you don't understand but they repeat themselves that'll help, I also know how good it feels when you finally see a question and can say to yourself 'I know what I need to do here'. That feeling doesn't just feel amazing to you as a student but also to me as a tutor when I see someones face light up because they know what they need to do.

My teaching techniques focus on the areas where my students struggle the most, allowing them to understand and master that topic before moving onto the next. I also try to keep it fun and lighthearted while still productive so that the student doesn't get bored. My average lesson length would be 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on what we aim to cover. I achieved an 8 in my maths GCSE and since my studying was mainly over COVID I taught myself a lot of the curriculum. My tutoring sessions are aimed at primary and secondary students who feel they need that little extra help to achieve their goals.
