About Jiwon
Hi, I’m Jiwon Kang! I’m 16 years old, Korean, and passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals. In 2024, I completed my GCSEs with 5 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s, and a 7, but I wasn’t always on track for such high marks. A few years ago, I was struggling with some subjects, scoring as low as a grade 4. With the help of other students who mentored me, I improved to a grade 9, and now I want to pay it forward by supporting others in the same situation I was in. I use interactive methods, like active recall and targeted practice, which helped me succeed, and I’m confident they can help you too. Teaching is something I’m genuinely excited about because I know how life-changing the right guidance can be. And hey, let’s not forget—helping you smash your grades is rewarding enough... but the pocket money doesn’t hurt either! I take an interactive and adaptive approach to tutoring secondary school students, focusing on active recall and spaced repetition to enhance memory and retention. Each one-hour lesson is structured to review previous topics, introduce new concepts, and include hands-on problem-solving activities tailored to the student’s needs and learning preferences. As a mentor at school, I have successfully helped students improve their GCSE mock grades from 5 to 9 by setting clear goals, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and using engaging teaching methods. My lessons are designed for students aged 14–16 preparing for GCSEs, whether they aim to secure a passing grade or achieve top marks.
