About Maria
Hi! My name is Maria Rigsbee. I'm a high school junior enrolled in the College Career & Promise program, where I'm working towards earning my Associate of Science degree. I currently hold a 4.286 GPA, am an active member of my school's HOSA and Interact club, as well as a founder of our debate team! I have had hands-on experience supporting elementary-level learning through assisting my younger sibling with homework and test prep, which has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.

As a tutor, I prioritize creating a supportive yet fun learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. My teaching style is tailored to each student's needs; I break down tricky concepts into simple, manageable steps and use relatable examples to help students remain immersed in their learning. Typical Hour-Long Session: - A 5-10 minute brief review of previous material to establish concepts. - 15 minutes spent introducing or explaining concepts with guided examples. - 25-30 minutes spent assisting with homework/assignments, gradually encouraging independent work. - A 5-10 minute brief summary of content covered, including key takeaways and any final questions. Who I teach: I tutor primarily Kindergarten through 6th grade in all subjects (math, science, English, and history). I understand the difficulties of learning in today's classrooms, and that's why I strive to help younger students feel confident and motivated when facing academic challenges. Whether they need a little extra practice or an entire re-approach to the lesson, I'm prepared to tailor the lesson to each student's specific needs, ensuring they get the most out of their learning experience.
