I'd often start the process by using their homework questions or questions I would make, if asked. I'd ask them how they think they'd solve it. If they don't know I'd give them the first step and, if need be, tell them how that works. I'd ask if they're understanding throughout the solving process and if they don't, we'll go back and I'll find a different way to explain it. After solving a problem together, I'd ask them to do one on their own if they're comfortable and ask me any questions along the way if they need to. When they're finished, I'd ask if they have anything else to talk about and the process could start again. Should the student learn better differently or the parent requests a different method, I will comply so that everyone will have a good and fulfilling experience.
I'm a highschool Freshman that has been in accelerated mathematics since 6th grade. I have enjoyed helping others that struggle in said field for the past two years. I am a great listener and always get background information on every students' abilities and needs so I can craft the right learning plan for each and every one of them.
