About Brendan
As a lifelong student myself, I understand many of the challenges presented by learning new and sometimes challenging material. I feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to receive countless incredible lectures and lessons from both professors and teachers during my time as a student, and I’d love to pass along some of the wisdom held by these mentors. Moreover, providing individual attention will allow for a better assessment of current abilities and clarification of any troublesome aspects of a particular subject immediately. Under these circumstances, developing an exorbitant understanding of the material is almost certain with enough exposure and practice.

Having worked with a variety of different professors and teachers as a student I believe no single style of lesson is best for every student and subject. However, among great instructors I’ve observed a common philosophy of pursuing understanding and not merely memorization. Accordingly, I believe that lessons should begin by ensuring that the foundational skills required to fully comprehend a given subject are present. If so, the lesson can proceed and oftentimes will be able to move very quickly as the student only needs to gain a conceptual understanding and then apply their previously honed mechanical skills to the new application. However, if there’s a foundational gap that can hinder a student’s ability to understand and tackle a subject, it must first be addressed and then the topic can be readily understood with proper explanation and practice.
