About Brighten
I bring many years of tutoring experience from Kumon, where I worked with students of all ages in math and reading, and have also tutored several undergraduate courses at UCSD in Data Science, Computer Science, and Math. My background allows me to teach anything from elementary fundamentals to advanced university topics. This includes Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Machine Learning, Algorithms and Data Structures, Linear Algebra, etc. I always aim to create a positive, encouraging environment that keeps students motivated, adapting to each student’s pace and explaining concepts in multiple ways until they truly “click.”

I like to begin with a review of previous material. This ensures the student has a solid foundation and builds their confidence before tackling more complex problems. To teach new concepts, I give many guided examples, explaining my own logic and understanding of the problem, and asking the student questions that lead them toward the solution. Over time, I try to use a more hands-off approach to build the student's confidence in solving similar problems on their own.
