About Pardiss

Hi, I’m Pardiss. I’m a medical student at Vanderbilt, and my path here has been shaped by a deep love for learning, a curiosity about how the body works, and a genuine desire to help others grow. I earned my BS in Health Science from the University of Miami and an AS in Mathematics from Montgomery College, and for the past eight years, I’ve been tutoring students in math and science—two subjects that have always challenged and inspired me. I know what it feels like to sit on the other side of the desk—confused by a lecture, overwhelmed by an upcoming exam, or just unsure of where to begin. That’s part of why I tutor: because I’ve been there, and I know that with the right guidance, those moments of frustration can turn into breakthroughs. I’m not just here to explain concepts—I’m here to connect with you, understand how you think, and help you find your rhythm and confidence as a learner. I bring patience, empathy, and a calm, focused energy to each session. My approach is conversational, thoughtful, and grounded in the belief that learning is a process, not a performance. If you're someone who wants to really understand the material, who’s not afraid to ask questions, and who’s ready to be supported every step of the way—then I think we’ll make a great team.

I use techniques like active recall, spaced repetition, real-world analogies, and Socratic questioning to reinforce understanding. I break down complex topics into digestible parts and build from foundational concepts so that students not only memorize material but truly understand it.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Warm-up & Recap (5–10 mins): Quick review of previous material with questions or a mini quiz.

Concept Introduction (15–20 mins): Introduction of new content using examples, diagrams, or step-by-step explanations.

Guided Practice (15–20 mins): We work through problems or case-based scenarios together. I encourage students to think aloud so I can assess understanding in real time.

Independent Application (10–15 mins): Students try questions on their own, while I observe and offer support as needed.

Wrap-up & Planning (5 mins): Summary of key takeaways and a preview of the next session. I also assign light practice if appropriate.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:

Empathy & Experience: I’ve been in my students’ shoes and understand the pressures they face. I create a safe, encouraging environment where it’s okay to make mistakes.

Adaptive Teaching: I adjust lesson pacing, methods, and depth based on the student’s goals—whether it’s acing an exam, catching up, or deepening understanding.

Holistic Support: Beyond content, I coach students on study skills, test-taking strategies, and time management to help them succeed independently.

Clear Communication: I’m skilled at translating difficult material into relatable terms, and I always check for understanding before moving on.

Who the Lessons Are For:
My tutoring is ideal for high school and college students, especially those in:

STEM courses (biology, anatomy, chemistry, neuroscience, etc.)

Pre-health or medical tracks (including MCAT prep, physiology, and clinical reasoning)

Introductory medical school coursework, particularly foundational science units

I also support students from non-science backgrounds who are transitioning into health-related fields and need extra clarity and encouragement.
