About Macy
I'm Macy, a current PhD student in Integrative Biology, specializing in Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology. I have been a graduate teaching assistant for 1.5 years, where I have taught microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and comparative physiology to college students ages 18-30. I typically work with small groups of students or one-on-one to ensure that they get they attention they deserve. I have also earned the Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy certificate, which has helped me develop communication, collaboration and organizational skills in the classroom. I also have 7 years of experience teaching gymnastics from recreational classes to competitive team members from ages 5-14.

Through my many years of teaching gymnastics and now biological sciences, I have learned that the best approach to teaching is to make it relatable to my students. Once that connection is established, it is much easier to get them excited about learning a new skill or approaching a new problem. Through my previous experience and lesson planning, I make sure that all the material is easily understood by each of my students and will work to ensure that it is understandable for everyone.
