About Gavin
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Physics at the University of Oxford. Having been a student for the past 8 years since completing school, I am very familiar with the challenges that come with studying and the sense of achievement that comes from overcoming difficulties in a subject or specific areas within it. Throughout my PhD, I have had the opportunity to work with Bose-Einstein condensates, a state of matter that exists at temperatures colder than anywhere else in the known universe. This experience has been both fascinating and enriching, allowing me to develop invaluable skills in maths and physics. I am eager to share these insights and skills with others who are earlier in their own academic journeys.

My approach to tutoring is very student-centred, focusing on building a strong understanding of key concepts while encouraging independent problem-solving skills. I aim to break down complex topics into manageable steps, ensuring my students fully grasp the material before moving on. I find that many students are capable of much more than they are currently achieving, and the best way to unlock this potential is with an approach tailored to each student. Lessons typically last one hour, which allows enough time for in-depth explanations, practice problems, and student questions. However, the length can be adjusted based on the student's needs and preferences. My lessons are primarily aimed at students preparing for GCSE and A-Level exams in Physics and Maths, but I am happy to support students at other levels as well. I work with students of varying abilities, from those seeking to improve their grades to those aiming for top-tier results.
