About Amelia

Hello! My name is Amelia Southall and I’m currently studying Psychology. I’m motivated, resilient, and passionate about helping others achieve their goals. My background as an athlete, having represented Great Britain in international cycling and running races, has taught me the value of perseverance, focus, and hard work — qualities I bring into my tutoring. I am a good listener, patient, and approachable, which helps me create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and build confidence in their learning. I also work well as part of a team, and I see tutoring as a partnership where I encourage students step by step while celebrating their progress along the way. Having successfully passed my GCSEs, I understand the challenges of exams and schoolwork, as well as the importance of resilience when things feel difficult. While I am new to formal tutoring, I am enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to helping students achieve their best — not only in their academic work but also in their confidence and mindset. Whether you’re looking for support with revision, subject understanding, or building self-belief, I’ll bring positivity, patience, and encouragement to every lesson.

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring I believe that learning should feel encouraging and supportive. My approach is to really listen to each student, understand how they learn best, and adapt my teaching to suit them. I know that everyone learns at a different pace, so I focus on patience, clear explanations, and breaking topics into manageable steps. My goal is to help students not only improve academically but also build confidence in themselves. Techniques and Teaching Methodology Friendly, approachable teaching style that creates a comfortable learning environment. Step-by-step explanations with plenty of time for questions. Encouraging students to think independently while guiding them through challenges. Use of practice questions, real-life examples, and active recall techniques to reinforce knowledge. Lesson Structure and Length A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, but I am happy to adjust depending on the student’s age, focus level, and needs. Each session usually includes a short recap, working through new material together, and finishing with time for practice and questions. Qualifications and Experience I am currently studying Psychology at Loughborough University. I successfully passed all my GCSEs, giving me a strong foundation in a range of subjects. While I am new to formal tutoring, I am a patient, approachable, and motivated person who is keen to support others in reaching their goals. I see this as an exciting opportunity to share my knowledge while developing my teaching skills. Who My Lessons Are For My lessons are ideal for: Primary and secondary school students who need extra support or confidence in their subjects. GCSE students who want help revising and preparing for exams. I am especially suited to students who may feel nervous about asking questions in class, as I pride myself on being a good listener and creating a relaxed, supportive environment.
