Hello! I am a dedicated educator currently serving as a Teacher Resident in Philadelphia. This means I spend my days active in the classroom, honing the most effective, modern teaching strategies available today.

My journey in education began as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Physical and Environmental Science. In that role, I took full responsibility for curriculum planning, grading, and student success. This experience gave me a deep "insider" understanding of the school system, where students typically get stuck, and exactly how to help them break through to that "Aha!" moment.

A Unique Professional Perspective
What sets me apart is my diverse professional background. Before entering the classroom, I worked in the healthcare field and conducted part-time research. This allows me to bring a high level of scientific literacy and real-world application to my lessons. I don't just teach formulas; I show students how this knowledge is used to save lives and protect our planet.

My Approach & Personality
I believe science is best learned through curiosity and connection. As a current resident, I am at the forefront of "best practices," using data-driven methods to ensure my students don't just memorize—they master the material.

When I’m not in the classroom or tutoring, I’m usually practicing what I preach about environmental science! You can find me hiking with my dog or exploring new cities I’ve never visited. I bring that same energy for discovery into every tutoring session.

About the lesson

I utilize Inquiry-Based Learning and the 5E Instructional Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate). Instead of just lecturing, I start with a "phenomenon"—a real-world mystery like a local weather pattern or a chemical reaction—to spark curiosity.

I also use Scaffolding, breaking complex environmental cycles or physics formulas into manageable chunks. Because I am a Teacher Resident, I stay updated on the latest pedagogical tools, including digital simulations and graphic organizers that help students visualize invisible forces.

What distinguishes my tutoring is my long-term classroom experience. As a former long-term substitute, I have seen exactly where students "get stuck" in a traditional 30-person classroom. I don't just help with homework; I teach the study skills and scientific literacy needed to excel on exams. Being a Teacher Resident means I am mentored by master teachers daily, allowing me to bring "best-practice" techniques directly to our 1-on-1 sessions.
