About Shani

My name is Shani. I am 20-years-old and about to begin my final year of my undergraduate degree in Architecture, at the University of Cambridge. I have always been passionate about biology, and the combination of this subject with maths and other sciences has been the basis of my artwork over the years.
While doing my GCSE's I created a large document of revision notes for the sciences, that I would be willing to share, and have since explored a variety of study methods, which is important as we all learn differently. I am driven and competitive, having done competitive sport my whole life, so I am a great encourager and motivator. This being said, the well-being of those around me is of utmost importance, so rest assured that my tutoring is here not to fatigue you or wear you out but purely to help you improve and achieve your goals.

About the lesson

I believe that every student has the ability to excel if given the correct guidance, and so although I have no official experience tutoring, I am hugely passionate to teach and have always enjoyed explaining content to friends or delving deeper personally just to understand a subject.

I received nine 9s, and two 8s in my GCSEs, and three A*s at A-level - so I am fairly experienced in examination revision and study.
I am comfortable to teach any age, up to A-level for biology and up to GCSE for maths. I would be happy to give advice to art and design students up to A-level, and am also able to offer guidance on university applications and personal statements.

In respect to subject tutoring, all content would be tailored to specific mark schemes for each exam board, so this is not something to worry about (Though I am currently most familiar with AQA).

I would want to begin by getting to know you - your ambitions, goals and any areas you're struggling with. I would like to understand your expectations of the tutoring provided, as to best meet your needs. From there I could create a tutoring plan with sessions focused on identified areas. For example, if exam preparation is a key goal, I may set several questions to be looked at by the following session (If this is something a student is willing to do). The next session we could then go through each one step-by-step, explaining the mark scheme, looking at techniques to remember what the examiners are looking for and considering the repetition of common questions over the years.

I could offer up to 2hours/week and would be willing to consider that in two 1-hour-long sessions or a single 2-hour block. This could be discussed and arranged, alongside extra hours upon request.
