About Simon
Hello! My name is Simon and I am based in the city of Los Angeles. I am a former Admissions Counselor at USC and Caltech, currently a doctoral student at UCLA. I have experience with the entire college admissions process, from undergrad to master's to PhD. I am also a part-time math tutor, teaching classes up to AP Calculus BC. Outside of school, I have been a Dodger and Laker fan for 20 years. I babysit my roommate's cat, Ollie, who's a big fan of snacks and smelly socks.

As a former admissions counselor at USC and Caltech, I have industry insights on what works and what does not. I will ensure that you remember your deadlines, organize your extracurricular activities appropriately, and improve your essay to develop a stronger voice to stand out. I will tell you how competitive you are with your GPA and overall application, and give you the appropriate advice to improve.

I operate with an "office hours" style of teaching. Essentially, you bring your homework to me, I double-check your methods and answers, then correct any mistakes or let you know your strengths. I take notes on what needs improvement and create discussion topics based on these notes. If you want, I can also create quizzes to help improve your testing ability.
