About Gabriel
I have been tutoring for about three years now both online and in person. I am on two other agencies (Mytutor and Bluetutors) and have done lots of one on one tutoring for friends. In total I have tutored seven different people ranging from ages of 5 to 18 and have helped with both GCSE and A level. I am also currently doing an online TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course with the intention to teach abroad once I have finished my degree.
I am mainly based in the English countryside, in the Somerset area, so I spend most of my time reading whatever I can (fiction and non fiction), walking, playing music, gardening and hanging out with my friends and family. I am obsessed with anything to do with Greece, so I am currently writing for a friend's publication about 20th Century Greek art and literature and intend to move out to Athens at the earliest available opportunity.

When I was figuring out my academic interests I always found that speaking one on one with someone who was really passionate about their subject was one of the most helpful and inspiring things you could do. My teaching style therefore intends to be conversational and discursive at first. Once I have figured out a students interests it becomes a bit more formal, setting specific tasks (generally presentations or written work), but always with a strong focus on what the student is actually interested in. I encourage students to be self reflective and analytical so that they figure out how to improve their work without necessarily being told by anyone else. In general this teaching style tends to suit older children, working towards a-levels or university applications, but I have also done tutoring for young kids (5-12). Kids this age often love the Classical world, and the myths surrounding it, and I think it is wonderful to keep these stories in the childhood imagination. Lessons can range from twenty minutes to up to an hour and half depending on age, attention span and overall intentions.
