About Nicole
I am currently a Bachelor’s student majoring in Engineering, and in this program, I have gained critical thinking and problem-solving skills from my STEM-related coursework. My academic background has helped me become knowledgeable in biology, chemistry, and mathematics, especially those taught in high schools and at the undergraduate level.
Moreover, apart from my education, I have been involved in laboratory research as a lab assistant, and this has helped me become more attentive to details, develop good communication skills, and be able to explain scientific principles to others effectively. Working as both a student and tutor has helped me learn about the challenges faced by many students in STEM courses and the importance of being patient and flexible in my tutoring sessions.
I am highly motivated and organized, and I am dedicated to excellence. I always strive to be reliable, professional, and approachable in all my interactions.

My tutoring approach revolves around breaking down tough concepts and explaining them to students in relatable and engaging ways. Students need to be encouraged to ask questions and participate in discussions without feeling uncomfortable about it as the most efficient way for them to understand the material.
First of all, I determine the student's level of familiarity with the course and pinpoint topics they are struggling with. Then, I start explaining the topic in smaller steps and relate them to practical life experiences as much as I can. A lot of emphasis is placed on solving practice questions, explaining step by step and testing knowledge through active recall, as well as interactive games.
My classes usually start with going over previously learned material before moving on to explanations of new concepts, which are done through examples. After that comes practice questions where we work together first before the student tackles some on their own. Finally, I try to encourage questions during the class session to make sure it's interactive. My intention with the classes is not moving to a different topic without making sure there is a solid foundation of the previous thus building up from there.
