About Takeru
I have tutored in both small classes and individual students in one-on-one sessions for about 3 years. During those years as a tutor for both ELA and mathematics, my lessons were structured according to the student's school curriculum. On a day-to-day basis, I ask the student what they are currently having trouble with in school and spend about a week with that student on a particular topic. I try to relate my lessons to the curriculum as much as I can, although I will occasionally introduce new concepts to help them understand the importance of their subject.
My students have seen overall improvements in their test and essay grades courtesy of my teachings. In addition, students who had behavioral issues in school that showed during sessions have also found ways to rise above them, thanks to me. I pay close attention to how the student behaves and interacts with me, as well as other students and tutors.

I am a university student with years of experience as an academic tutor for students from elementary to high school levels. As a tutor who will gladly read over and critique students' essays, my main approach to teaching is using real-world examples that the student can relate to in order to help them better understand important concepts in writing.
For English literature and text commentary, which I am also willing to teach, I employ a similar strategy. I will challenge the student's mind by making sure they can explain a concept to me in a manner that a student below their level can understand. Generally, my end goal is to ensure the student leaves having fully understood the concepts I wanted to go over and enough evidence to prove so.
