About Gina
I'm currently a rising junior at Cornell University studying Psychology and Sociology with minors in Human Development and Education. I'm not only experienced in, but passionate about teaching. When I was in high school, I led service trips to a rural school located in Chaoyang, China, where I spent weeks teaching them various subjects and helping them overcome prejudices. In 10th grade, I tutored an American girl Mandarin, focusing on improving her speaking and reading skills. In my junior and senior year of high school, the National Honor Society, in which I was a member of, initiated a tutoring drop-in session twice a week that was open to everyone in the secondary school. As someone who took more than 10 AP classes, I tutored students Psychology, Life Sciences, Math (Geometry, Algebra, Statistics, Calculus), English writing, SAT test prep, and helped to review college essays. I also volunteered at a local orphanage over 10 years, socializing with teens and elementary school kids and often tutoring them in subjects like English, Math, and Mandarin.
Currently, I’m tutoring two children – a five-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy – mandarin twice a week on campus. I’m also involved in the student athlete tutoring program, in which I was assigned to help out 5 student athletes with Calculus. I’m also in a volunteering program called YOURS. Every once a week, I go to an after school program located in the countryside to engage children from age 6 to 16 in various outdoor activities.
As a trauma survivor, I’m deeply committed to help children lead happier, healthier, and more rewarding lives through education and community service.
