About Sky

At first, some of the parents were hesitant to choose me as a tutor because I am not a licensed teacher and my degree is in Information Technology. However, they were willing to give me a chance and decided to let me tutor their children for one month.

After that first month, the results were very encouraging.

One of my students initially had a hard time understanding Filipino, constructing sentences, and even spelling basic words. Through consistent guidance, practice, and personalized lessons, we saw a significant improvement in these areas.

Another student started with almost zero knowledge of multiplication. After just two weeks of consistent practice and coaching, the student gradually learned and memorized the multiplication tables and became more confident in solving multiplication problems.

I also had the opportunity to guide one of my students in Photojournalism. I supported the student throughout the preparation and competition, and I was incredibly proud when the student eventually won.

These experiences taught me that being an effective tutor is not only about having a teaching degree. It is also about understanding each student’s learning needs, knowing how to explain lessons in a way they can understand, being patient with their struggles, and consistently helping them improve.

I may be an IT graduate, but I take tutoring seriously. I prepare lessons, identify areas where students struggle, provide advance learning when necessary, and make sure they truly understand a lesson before moving forward.

For me, the best proof of being a tutor is not just a title or degree it is seeing the student’s progress, confidence, and achievements over time.

About the lesson

Beyond simply focusing on the students’ current lessons, I make sure that they are introduced to upcoming topics in advance. In other words, I incorporate advance learning into my tutoring approach, especially for more complex subjects such as Mathematics, where students need to understand formulas and concepts before applying them.

For students who struggle with a particular subject or lesson, I make it a priority not only to prepare them for upcoming topics but also to ensure that they fully understand the specific lesson they find challenging. I believe that learning should not be about simply memorizing answers—it should be about developing genuine understanding and confidence.

For me, seeing a student finally understand a lesson they once struggled with is one of the most rewarding parts of being a tutor. Every time a student overcomes a difficult topic, I consider it a personal achievement—a small trophy that reminds me that my efforts are making a meaningful difference in their learning journey.
