About Eve

I am a 20 year old student of History and French at university who is currently on a year abroad teaching English in Paris.

I have studied French since year 7, and despite now studying it at university, I really struggled through GCSE and A level. Because of this, I know first hand what it's like to just not "get" French, and can share with you the techniques and systems that I have developed to get me to a level where I am now comfortable living and working in France.

Since living in Paris, I have also gained lots of teaching experience and so have learnt the best techniques for language learning that actually help with memorising and understanding.

About the lesson

I am all about encouraging my students to engage with the reason that they want to improve French. As someone currently working abroad for the first time, I can provide real insight into the benefits of learning the language.

As someone who is still in the midst of my degree and has been learning French since year 7, I am incredibly well placed to understand the struggles we English speakers have when learning the language. I will share with you the tips and tricks I have developed over the years for how to remember some of the more challenging quirks of the French language; from pronunciation to adjectival agreements.

I prefer to teach students preparing for their GCSE French however I am also able to help A level students with confidence in conversational skills and confidence in grammar.

My sessions will look like this:
- Generally around an hour depending on my student's preference/schedule
- Consolidating existing knowledge
- Working through aspects of the curriculum the student is struggling with and finding ways to commit it to memory
- 10-15 minutes of chat about an aspect of French/Francophone culture to remind the student of the world that is unlocked with a deeper understanding of French.
