About DENICE
I started my dance career at El Cerrito High School with Jacqueline Burgess. After graduation, I attended Laney College and was a member of the Laney College Dance Rep. While working on my degree in Black Studies/Social Studies at SFSU, I auditioned for Dimensions Dance Theater and am currently a principal dancer. I am also a member of the Board of Directors for Dimensions Dance Theater as well as being the instructor for the Rites of Passage youth program teaching beginning ballet. I spent a few years away from the company while working on my master's degree at UCLA in World Arts & Culture with an emphasis on Dance Education. I lived in Hawaii for several years where I began my training in the art of hula. I achieved the title of Olapa or hula dancer in 2008 and Ho'opa'a or chanter in 2020. Most recently training with Kumu Patrick Makuakane and Na Lei Hulu in San Francisco, CA.

Come learn technique, style, musicality and freedom in a nurturing, supportive free environment. You will build a basic foundation based in ballet technique while learning movement vocabulary from various dance forms. As conditioning and stretching are paramount, you will be given tools to increase and maintain strength and flexibility with a focus on injury prevention and longevity. Lessons are geared toward gaining/giving the student the maximum amount of support for where they are in their dance journey.
