About Emma

I have been dancing for over 20 years and graduated from UNCG with my BFA in dance. Along with this, I have a licensure to teach children in grades K-12. For teaching experience, I have taught in both studio settings and education classrooms. The age ranges for my students span from age 3 to retirees and the styles of dance I have incorporated are tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater, hip-hop, African, Scottish Country dance, and many more. My students have been able to learn basic dance vocabulary used across all styles of dance. With this new knowledge learned, I have watched as many of my students have broken out of their shells to explore more about themselves, both as a dancer and an individual.

About the lesson

I base my classes on good technique of the classical styles, utilizing repetition in order for my students to recall the information they have learned from week to week. Although I drill vocabulary and proper technique into my lessons, I love to incorporate material that students learn outside of my classroom too (i.e. references to current pop culture, movies, tv shows, etc.). Every lesson is a new experience, filled with fun and learning for both my students and myself. My outgoing nature tends to put people at ease as they dance along from the comfort of their own home.
