About Joy
I took ballet and tap as a child, and then took worship dance at Christ for the Nations Institute. From then on, I have been dancing informally for exercise and fun. I believe in professionalism and hard work; however, I will never push students to the point where it's hurting them. I have studied and learned several pieces and enjoy improving. Each lesson will be tailored to the student.

I am patient, clear and non-judgy. Because I am self-taught, I understand the struggle in finding cheap but quality dance lessons. During the lessons, I will suggest choreography, ways to study and ideas to practice it. I can also help with preparation for performances, auditions and lessons, especially in terms of performance, ensemble work, learning a new piece or dance (style) and how to overcome and work through performance anxiety. I focus on bringing out the student's style.
The only required materials for the lessons are Google Meet and a way to play music (YouTube or something along those lines). It helpful to have a water bottle and method to take notes. A ballet barre is not required.
Dance is a great form of exercise for many people. I am flexible to most genres of dance and will work with the client to build their confidence. The genres I have actively danced in are: ballet, Horton Modern, tap, hiphop (some KPop), afro and House.

Details
I offer dance tutoring for $40 per 1-hr session, or $30 for a 30-minute session. I do not offer lesson packages or free first lessons; however, please feel free to contact me if you have questions.
Please contact me when convenient, and I can share access to my teaching studio for the relevant subject. Payment for lessons is accepted via Venmo.
I prefer to schedule regular weekly lessons, which allows for consistent progress at my standard rate.
If you would like to schedule lessons week by week instead, please let me know before starting, as last-minute cancellations are charged in full. Flexible lessons are available at a slightly higher rate to account for the extra coordination.
