  • 1) Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I've been interested in computers and how they work since my childhood, everything about computers and machines excited me. I was drawn to Python because of its simplicity, versatility, and the vast possibilities it offers-from creating simple scripts to building complex programs. The language's readability made learning enjoyable, and its practical applications kept me motivated to explore further.

As I delved deeper, I realized that it's not just about writing code; it's about solving real-world problems creatively. This realization inspired me to share my knowledge and help others discover the same passion for coding. Teaching Python allows me to bridge the gap between theory and application, showing students how they can turn ideas into functional programs and projects. Seeing my students succeed and grow is the most rewarding part of this journey!
  • 2) What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

I used to teach some kids around the place where I lived. I didn't charge them any money for it, it was very fulfilling for me in a way that can't really be explained in words. "if you share knowledge with others, in turn it will expand more" are the words that i live by. I've always loved sharing what I know with others.
  • 3) How does your work help society?

As a Python programming teacher, my work contributes to society by equipping students with a crucial 21st-century skill-coding. Python is not just a programming language; it's a tool that helps individuals to solve real-world problems, innovate, and contribute to fields like artificial intelligence, data science, and automation.

By teaching Python, I help students develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. These abilities are not only essential for careers in technology but are also transferable to other areas of life. Moreover, Python opens up opportunities for students to work on projects that can positively impact their communities, such as creating apps, analyzing data, or automating repetitive tasks.
  • 4) If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

While I was in college, I had a friend who is also more or less like me in the interests department. He is really smart with the quick thinking of logic and programming. Currently he's working on various open source products which will help society in many ways. His dedication to work and helping the society through his work is very inspiring.
  • 5) Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Other than teaching Python and mathematics, I've always been interested in music, whether it be singing or playing an instrument. I can play a little bit of guitar and just last year I started learning electronic keyboard(piano) as well, I've even qualified till grade 5 (Trinity college of London) exam.
  • 6) Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

During one of my coding classes, a beginner student was struggling with a Python program. The goal was simple: print the first 10 even numbers. After running their code repeatedly and getting errors, they finally turned to me and said, "I think my computer is allergic to the number 2!" Curious, I checked their code and noticed they had typed evan_numbers instead of even_numbers throughout their program.

I explained the typo and how Python couldn't understand "evan". The student laughed and said, "Well, it's my code-I'll name it Evan if I want!" From that day forward, we jokingly referred to all their variables as "Evan-something," making debugging a fun and memorable part of the learning process.

This moment reminded me that patience and humor are essential in teaching. It's not just about solving problems; it's about building confidence and making the process enjoyable. That student eventually excelled in Python and even created their first small app, which they proudly called EvanCounter.
