About Tom
I hold a degree in Computer Science and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science at the University of Bristol. Having worked extensively with applied mathematics, probability, and analytical problem-solving throughout my academic career, I have a clear and practical grasp of the core concepts taught across GCSE and A-Level curricula.
I teach because maths often feels overwhelming when students are pushed to memorise formulas without understanding the underlying logic. Having navigated the UK exam boards myself, I focus on breaking complex problems into manageable steps and demystifying mark schemes.
My aim is to help students build genuine confidence, eliminate exam anxiety, and develop the independent reasoning skills needed to secure top grades.

My tutoring focuses on building true mathematical intuition, structured problem-solving, and sharp exam technique. Rather than memorising formulas, we focus on understanding why methods work so students can tackle unfamiliar, multi-step exam questions with confidence.
Sessions are tailored to the student’s specific exam board (Edexcel, AQA, OCR) and target key syllabus areas:
Pure Mathematics: Mastering algebra, functions, calculus (differentiation and integration), trigonometry, and coordinate geometry.
Applied Mathematics: Breaking down Mechanics (forces, kinematics, Newton's laws) and Statistics (probability distributions, hypothesis testing) into intuitive, practical steps.
Exam Technique & Mark Schemes: Drilling past-paper questions, identifying common examiner traps, and practising clear, step-by-step working to secure full method marks.
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes (with 90-minute options for intensive revision blocks), available online via interactive whiteboard or in person around Bristol. Suitable for GCSE, IGCSE, and A-Level students.
