About Thomas
Stuck on a statistics course, SPSS assignment, or the data analysis for your thesis? You are in the right place.
I am 26 and graduated with my bachelor's degree in Applied Physics at The Hague University. After my degree, I spent years building machine learning trading algorithms: designing models, validating results with statistics, and reporting the conclusions to a non-technical advisory board. Statistics is not theory to me, it is my daily work.
During my studies, I was tutoring in my hometown Haarlem for middle school and college students, helping them prepare for their exams. Next to data science, I teach karate as a black belt, so explaining difficult things in simple steps is what I do on both fronts.

Statistics is often taught as a list of formulas and rules. Yet the why question deserves an answer: why this test, why this sample size, what does this p-value actually tell you? Once you understand what the numbers mean, the formulas follow naturally.
During my classes, I emphasize the application. We work with real data where possible: a t-test means more when you run it on actual numbers in SPSS or Python than when it stays on paper. This results in improved memory and understanding. Once a subject truly clicks, you will understand it for a long time.
To verify your understanding, I'll ask a platter of questions and bring multiple scenarios. You do the thinking like you would during an exam, while I break the problem down into smaller bits. I help with statistics courses, SPSS assignments, thesis data analysis, and exam preparation for college and university students.
A class starts beforehand: you tell me what you would like to discuss, preferably with some images of your coursework or dataset, so I can prepare a well-thought-out program. Lessons take place online with screen sharing and a digital whiteboard. The lesson plan looks like:
* Checking what knowledge is present
* Presenting the goal of the class
* Explaining the new subject matter
* Exercising with varying scenarios
* Summary
I hold a bachelor's degree in Applied Physics as a reference of my expertise. Feel free to discuss the subjects you need beforehand, so I can estimate how well I can assist you. My goal is that you walk into your exam or thesis defense calm and confident.
