About Michaela

My teaching style is warm, patient, and rooted in authentic, real-life signing. As a Deaf individual with a cochlear implant, I bring firsthand insight into Deaf culture, identity, and the communication journey many learners are eager to better understand. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable, understood, and motivated to grow.

I especially enjoy working with intermediate to advanced learners who want to strengthen fluency, improve expressive and receptive skills, and develop more natural, confident signing through immersive instruction. My background also includes college tutoring and Deaf theatre, which brings depth, creativity, and strong communication skills to my teaching approach.

Availability: Monday–Tuesday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Wednesday–Thursday 9:00 AM–3:00 PM | Select Weekend Availability

About the lesson

I offer personalized ASL lessons tailored to your goals, communication needs, and current skill level, with a focus on helping intermediate to advanced learners build natural, confident signing. My teaching blends authentic language instruction with meaningful insight into Deaf culture, identity, and real-world communication.

Sessions may include visual storytelling, expressive and receptive practice, ASL grammar, conversational role-play, and constructive feedback to strengthen fluency, confidence, and natural expression. I create a warm, supportive learning space where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and growing in their signing ability.

Lessons are ideal for intermediate and advanced signers looking to deepen fluency, as well as professionals, families, and motivated beginners seeking authentic ASL instruction and stronger communication with Deaf loved ones.
