About Michelle
I have 38 years of teaching experience and hold a Doctor of Education in Secondary Mathematics. Throughout my career, I have supported students from diverse academic backgrounds by providing structured instruction, individualized mentoring, and continuous encouragement. Helping learners overcome mathematical challenges and discover confidence in algebra remains the most rewarding aspect of my teaching journey.
One learner found logarithmic equations particularly challenging because understanding the relationship between exponential and logarithmic functions seemed confusing. Through carefully sequenced lessons, graphical representations, and practical scientific examples, the student gradually developed a clear conceptual understanding and became highly confident solving advanced algebraic problems. This improvement resulted in excellent examination performance and increased enthusiasm for mathematics.
I believe every student benefits from a classroom where curiosity, perseverance, respect, and independent thinking are encouraged. My lessons promote active participation, thoughtful discussion, and continuous reflection while helping students develop confidence in tackling unfamiliar mathematical challenges.
Outside teaching, I enjoy researching mathematics education, creating enrichment programs, and developing innovative classroom resources that make complex algebraic concepts easier to understand. These experiences continually improve my instructional approach while allowing me to provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities. I would be delighted to help you build lasting confidence and success in algebra.

My teaching philosophy is based on helping students understand why algebra works rather than simply memorizing procedures. Every learner begins with an assessment of their mathematical knowledge, confidence, and academic goals. Using this information, I design an individualized learning plan that develops conceptual understanding while steadily increasing problem-solving confidence through structured instruction and meaningful practice.
Students receive comprehensive instruction in algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, polynomial operations, factorization, rational expressions, exponents, radicals, quadratic equations, logarithmic functions, systems of equations, mathematical patterns, and introductory proof techniques. Every lesson combines visual demonstrations, guided exploration, collaborative discussions, practical examples, and independent exercises that help students develop strong analytical reasoning while improving computational accuracy. Learners are encouraged to explain their thought processes and compare multiple strategies for solving mathematical problems.
Algebra is connected to practical applications in engineering, computer science, finance, architecture, environmental studies, economics, and technology to demonstrate its value beyond the classroom. Students participate in investigative activities, real-world modeling tasks, mathematical discussions, and cumulative revision exercises that strengthen critical thinking and improve long-term retention. Continuous formative assessments allow lessons to be adjusted according to individual progress while ensuring consistent academic growth.
Students preparing for school examinations, board assessments, SAT, ACT, university entrance examinations, or competitive mathematics tests receive personalized preparation plans including structured revision schedules, topic-based assessments, examination strategies, and detailed progress evaluations. Regular feedback and targeted assignments help students strengthen conceptual understanding while improving confidence and examination performance.
