About Marina

I am a music graduate, tutor, and performer in western classical and contemporary music. Have been giving private 1-1 and group lessons for the past few years to ages of 6-60.

Originally from India/Argentina, so although I am western classically trained my mixed background keeps me intrigued to the different genres of music. I perform a variety of music including Indian fusion, pop, Irish folk, and jazz.

I am an active member of 'The Benjamin Quartet' where we play a variety of music ranging from Haydn to Philip Glass. I also play and perform with orchestras all year round and do session recordings with singer songwriters.

I have experience in getting students ready for ABRSM/Trinity grade exams if that is something that you are interested in and also hold a DBS check certificate.

Goldsmiths University and SAE Institute graduate.

Fluent in Spanish, English, and Hindi.

About the lesson

My lessons are student oriented. I build a comfortable environment where we can experiment and explore your relationship with the instrument. I prioritize keeping the enjoyment of music at the core of all my lessons. Where we can explore repertoire that excites you and got you interested in the violin. If you are just starting out, we will also look at music theory alongside.

I believe that it is important to have a good balance of creative independence and technical mastery. Therefore, we will look at violin technique that will give you the confidence and opportunity to make new sounds on the instrument.

My aim is not to tell you how something should be played but instead guide you to think about forming your own ideas and we will together explore how they can be executed. Whether this be in music making or even working on technique, building the creative independence to think about these topics for yourself.

I also have an extensive interest in Practice Research and if interested we can also dive into deeper topics about the body, mind, surrounding space, and sound. Understanding that once aware these have an impact on our playing. These topics are of more value if you are keen to get into performance.
