About Basheera
I have had the honor of teaching/tutoring reading and writing both here in the United States and internationally. I have worked with students with so many diverse backgrounds and learning styles. I believe that mistakes are a key element to academic success. Therefore I prioritize maintaining an emotionally safe learning environment where each student can feel safe making mistakes and learning at their own pace.

The only thing I love more than teaching other teachers how to teach is teaching students to express themselves regardless of the subject they're learning. I keep things fun and engaging! I tailor lessons to each student’s needs, balancing creative activities with clear explanations. A typical lesson plan is specialized to each student, starting with their strengths and diving into more challenging topics. My lessons typically follow a Direct Instruction (DI) model.
What sets me apart? My ability to draw on storytelling and real-life examples to make lessons come alive and relate to students’ interests. I believe in the power of your voice as a writer and your agency as a learner. Whether you're prepping for college essays or mastering the basics of reading and writing, I’m here to make sure you enjoy the art of learning.
