About Ruth
I am a passionate flute tutor with 8 years of experience teaching High School, College students, and adults. Over the years, I have taught around 300 students, helping them improve their technique, musical expression, and confidence. My teaching philosophy is to create lessons that are interactive, enjoyable, and tailored to each student’s learning pace.
I focus on tone, rhythm, technique, and music theory, while encouraging creativity and personal expression. Many of my students have performed in school concerts, college events, and competitions, which are moments I proudly celebrate.
I believe that learning the flute is about more than just mastering notes—it’s about developing discipline, confidence, and a lifelong love for music. My goal is to guide students in discovering their unique musical voice and enjoying every step of their learning journey.

My teaching approach for flute focuses on clarity, adaptability, and real-world understanding. I aim to make flute lessons enjoyable and meaningful for students of all ages.
I communicate flute concepts such as breathing techniques, embouchure control, finger accuracy, tone quality, and rhythm using simple explanations. I adapt lessons using demonstrations, listening activities, and hands-on practice based on individual learning styles.
I use real-life musical examples and case studies from concerts, recordings, and familiar compositions. This helps students connect lessons with real musical experiences.
Along with flute instruction, I teach music theory, rhythm exercises, ear training, scale practice, sight reading, and basic performance skills. I also guide students on practice planning and musical expression.
