About Mara
I am a dedicated Physics tutor with over 7 years of experience helping students build confidence and mastery in the subject. I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Physics, which has shaped both my analytical thinking and teaching approach. Over the years, I have guided learners through some of the most fascinating areas of physics, especially optics and wave phenomena. These topics often feel abstract at first, but I specialise in making them intuitive and engaging.
My teaching focuses on the behaviour of light, sound, and electromagnetic waves. I work closely with students to develop strong skills in ray tracing, helping them visualise how light interacts with different media. Interference and diffraction, often seen as challenging concepts, become clearer through structured problem-solving and real-world examples. I emphasise understanding over memorisation, ensuring students can apply concepts confidently.
I have also supported students pursuing studies in photonics, telecommunications, and imaging sciences. These fields connect theory to cutting-edge technology, which I bring into lessons to keep them relevant and inspiring. From fibre optics to imaging systems, I help learners see the practical side of wave physics. My goal is to bridge the gap between equations and applications.
Every student learns differently, and I adapt my methods to suit individual needs. I encourage curiosity, questions, and exploration. Progress comes not just from practice, but from genuine understanding.
There is something deeply rewarding about watching students grasp how waves behave. It transforms the way they see the world. Ultimately, I believe that understanding waves is not just about physics, but about discovering how we perceive and interpret reality itself.

My teaching approach in Physics is built on clarity, structure, and active understanding. I focus on helping students truly grasp concepts rather than memorise formulas. Physics becomes much easier when the basics are strong.
I cover core areas such as Newtonian mechanics, forces and motion, and energy conservation in a detailed yet simple way. These topics form the foundation of most physical systems. I also include related areas like work, power, momentum, rotational motion, and basic thermodynamics. Each concept is connected carefully to the next.
My methodology centres on active learning. I use practical examples and real-life situations to explain abstract ideas. Students are encouraged to think, question, and apply concepts during the session. This keeps learning engaging and effective.
I place strong emphasis on problem-solving using fundamental laws. Instead of jumping to formulas, I guide students to understand the reasoning behind each step. This builds confidence in handling new and unfamiliar problems.
I provide focused support to learners who are transitioning into physics from different backgrounds or who enjoy deep theoretical thinking. I help them bridge gaps and strengthen their approach. With consistent guidance, they become more confident and capable in applying concepts.
I adapt my teaching style based on each student’s pace and needs. Patience and clarity are always my priorities. No concept is rushed.
