About Suraien

I am a patient, encouraging and dedicated tutor who is passionate about helping students grow in confidence and achieve their goals. I achieved 2 A*s and 1 A at A-Level, strong GCSE results, and I am currently a fourth-year Medical Student at University College London (UCL). I specialise in teaching 11+, KS2, KS3 and GCSE Maths and Science, and I use my academic background to explain complex ideas in a simple, clear and structured way.

I believe every student learns differently, so I take the time to understand each learner’s strengths, challenges and preferred way of working in order to make lessons supportive, effective and enjoyable. My focus is always on building strong understanding first, then developing exam technique and confidence so students can perform at their best under pressure.

I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping students understand new ideas, overcome difficulties and realise what they are capable of. Having worked with students for over 5 years, I’ve seen how the right guidance can completely change a student’s confidence and performance. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student go from feeling unsure to feeling confident and proud of their progress.

My aim is to create a positive, focused learning environment where students feel motivated, supported and capable of succeeding not just in exams, but in their wider approach to learning.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, focused and fully tailored to each student’s individual needs, ensuring every session is both productive and engaging. I begin by identifying the student’s current level and any areas that need improvement, often reviewing previous learning or homework to reinforce understanding and address gaps early on.

The main part of the lesson is centred around clear teaching and active learning. I break down complex topics into simple, step-by-step explanations and use guided examples to ensure full understanding before moving on. I encourage students to think independently by asking questions throughout and getting them to explain their reasoning, which helps build confidence and deeper comprehension.

We then move on to exam-style questions and targeted practice, which is essential for 11+, KS2, KS3 and GCSE preparation. This allows students to apply what they’ve learned in realistic exam conditions while developing strong exam technique, timing and accuracy. I also highlight common mistakes and show students how to avoid them.

Each lesson ends with a recap of key points, checking understanding, and setting targeted homework or practice where appropriate. I also provide feedback so both students and parents can track progress clearly.

Overall, my lessons are supportive yet challenging, designed to build confidence, strengthen understanding and help every student reach their full potential.
