I am an educator and coach with over 12 years of experience teaching Social Studies and Business . I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring U.S History , World History, Government, African American History, Economics, Business 101, Entrepreneurship and Marketing. I have worked with students from grades 3- 2nd year college students. My instructional approach employs a variety of methods and strategies to ensure all students can access the material. I regularly attend continuing education and professional development workshops in order to stay current on the latest trends, research and technology that help my students learn.

I am a firm believer that all students can learn. Ultimately my vision is to give students the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve maximum academic success. I believe that in order for children to achieve success they must first have appropriate placement, accessible resources and passionate educators. As an educator I am committed to pushing each of my students beyond any pre-set boundaries.
I have been teaching for 12 years. I have taught over seven subjects in grades 6th through 12th. In Addition, I have tutored and coached students in grades 1st through 5th. I have provided instruction to over 1200 students over the span of my career. Many of my students have gone on to receive academic merit grants and awards, scholarships for stellar SAT scores as well as local and state recognition for academic excellence.

2005 to 2007
Special Education Math Teacher – Grades 9-12 and Case Manager
Developed and executed math programs in Algebra and Geometry in compliance with school district and State requirements for special education students in grades 9 through 12 with a wide range of academic abilities, and served as case manager for 20 students. As a teacher, planned and developed multiple courses of study for different educational levels, modifying curriculum in accordance with academic level and previous achievement. Played a pivotal role in writing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students. Evaluated and recorded IEP goals, and helped students to evaluate their abilities, interests, talents and personality characteristics in order to develop realistic academic and career goals. Significantly enhanced the classroom learning environment by acting as a facilitator to promote student leadership and motivate students excel.
As Case Manager, handled a caseload of 20 students. Annually updated IEPs, and planned, organized, and held IEP re-evaluation meetings with county personnel. Maintained monthly Medicaid forms for each student on caseload and entered anecdotal notes and services received. Conducted required testing, and provided preventive and developmental counseling to teach students life skills needed to deal with or prevent problems from occurring and to enhance students’ personal, social, and academic growth.
Served as Team Leader for introducing/managing various committees and other school support programs. Collaborated with colleagues in math and other disciplines on conducting comprehensive academic assessments and developing action plans.
