About Anna

I am a graduate of Eckerd College with a background in Sociology, Human Development and Language acquisition. I have been giving ESL lessons for the past three years, and have had experience with three different students who did not know English before my teaching them. They have been able to communicate with their peers in English-speaking settings, read and write with more fluency, and understand what their own English-speaking teachers and professors are trying to convey to them.

About the lesson

I want my students to enjoy learning English, so my method is based on what you will be learning English for! For example, one of my students wanted to apply for a job that she needed to learn English for, so we went over extensive vocabulary related to her job experience, as well as doing fun and interactive listening and writing activities specifically related to business administration. Currently, two of my ESL students are in an American high school, where they are required to speak English with relative fluency to understand basic subjects like Science, Math, and Literature. Because of this, we read through age-appropriate novels, which provide both vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension opportunities, along with practice in pronunciation. My students have loved their interactive virtual lessons and learn a ton!
