About Darius
Hi! I'm Darius and I have just finished my final year at school studying Maths, Physics and English at A-level. I'm just beginning a gap year where I will work independently to complete a Further Maths A-level as I plan to study Electrical Engineering at university. Throughout my entire school career I have strived to achieve the best possible grades. This is evidenced by my GCSE grades where my hard work earned me A*s and 8-9s in all my 11 subjects. I achieved A-level grades of A* in Maths and English Literature and an A in Physics. I tried my best to enjoy the process of revision and of course I have kept all revision notes dating back to my 11+ exams not to mention some Quizlets that I cherished in the GCSE revision process! My teaching style entails the creation of a relaxed environment to eliminate the fear or anxiety synonymous with revision. I highly value listening and communicating as early as possible with parents in order to help me map a tailored timeline for success for the student. I will always plan every session involving starter exercises, explanation of concepts followed by specific learning activities: I will lean towards methods of teaching where I see tangible improvement for the student so that every student gets a tailored experience ideally perfect for their learning preferences. I also have had extensive experience despite my young age. During my final two years at school I was part of select number of students chosen to be Middle School mentors. I worked to help a couple of Year 10-11 boys who had desired mentoring in academics and school life. Not only did I aid them in their studies but also understood my responsibilities to care for the mental health side of their academic career. Additionally, I have worked for a company who helps young neuro-diverse children who struggle to focus in class or who may have sensory deficiencies. I enjoyed my time there hugely and learnt about how to communicate with a child with ASD, ADHD or sensory deficiencies. I have other interests in robotics, film, music, football and now teaching. Of course, it goes without saying, I can't wait to get started! Darius Joshi is an excellent tutor who really helped me understand my physics and maths courses. I was struggling a lot with the physics course but Darius helped explain topics in a simple and easy way, much more than my teachers did! He helped me understand my maths equations too.
