About Ella

I have spent over six years helping students find joy and healing through a deeply personalized connection with the violin. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance, but my actual teaching style goes far beyond just perfect classical technique. I believe in a holistic and therapeutic approach to learning music that focuses heavily on self-expression, emotional release, and storytelling.

In my studio, we use music as a gentle tool for mindfulness, stress reduction, and building overall mental well-being. We often combine physical violin playing with simple improvisation, personal journaling, and creating relaxing soundscapes to encourage deep personal growth. I specialize in working with neurodiverse learners, trauma survivors, and adult students who are seeking comfort and healing through music.

For instance, I recently taught an adult student who was incredibly stressed by work and had given up playing years ago. Instead of practicing strict classical scales, we focused on slow breathing and improvised simple melodies to match their emotional mood that day. About the lesson

My teaching methodology focuses on helping you develop precise pitch and strong aural acuity to play with incredible confidence. We will work extensively on intonation accuracy, developing a highly refined ear for pitch, and learning to play in tune across different positions. I teach my students how to use drone practice effectively to match their notes perfectly with a constant reference pitch.

This detailed approach is perfect for pop performers who need clean melodies over modern tracks and vocalists looking to match their singing lines. For example, I recently worked with a singer who wanted to learn the violin but kept playing their high notes slightly flat. We set up a low drone sound on their phone and practiced sliding up to the correct pitch until their ears recognized the sweet spot.

Within just a couple of weeks, they were shifting into higher positions with absolute clarity and playing with a beautiful, ringing tone. I am completely dedicated to supporting you at every single step of this journey to ensure you excel and find your musical voice. We will practice simple, daily listening habits that will train your fingers to find the correct spots on the fingerboard automatically.
