About Ana Ofelia

I am a native Spanish speaker with more than 10 years learning and speaking English as a second language and I have been teaching English, Algebra, and Spanish for nearly three years.

My experience with teaching includes both the Mexican public sector and the private one, as well as individual and small-group tutoring sessions. I have taught English and Mathematics to children, teenagers, and adults, and I have been teaching online for almost a year now.

I am certified by the Educational Testing Service and by the British Council as a C1 (Advanced level) English speaker; and I finished my Education bachelor's degree in 2020.

I can type 45+ wpm, I love languages and learning about them, I love classic English literature (especially the gothic genre) and Latin American literature (magic realism and horror), and if I had not been a teacher, I would have been a linguist or a dog groomer, because I love dogs.

About the lesson

I am trained in the newest language teaching approaches, and thus I teach English to my non-native learners through communicative tasks. This means that, more than a teacher, I become a facilitator of tasks and environments, and a language scaffolding to my students. In other words, you can expect lots of speaking practice, lots of interaction, and lots of games in my group classes.

I specialize in teaching pre-intermediate (A2) and intermediate (B1) levels, but I've also taught basic (A1) and higher intermediate (B2) levels.

As a personal tutor, I can design lessons that appeal to my students' individual needs, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading understanding, accent reduction for Spanish speakers, or exam prep. In individual classes, you can expect to receive and give lots of feedback, frequent testing, and of course, my entire attention on you.

Regarding other subjects that I am also experienced in teaching, such as Spanish or Algebra, I am a very flexible tutor and you can bring the specific topics that you are struggling with, or even the textbooks that you are using , and with a couple of questions regarding your preferred learning styles and channels, I will prepare the best lesson for you.
