About Alfie

I'm Alfie. I'm 20 years old and am in my second year of studying Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A level achieving two A*s and one A. I have always believed in the importance in maintaining a good balance between your studies and all the other aspects to your life. Personally, I balance my studies with running competitively and with my friends, going to the gym and going to university socials. This means that, I would like our sessions to be as stress free for yourselves as possible, helping your understanding, enjoyment and improving your grades in the process. I started tutoring as I wanted to be able to offer some support to people during a really stressful time. My aim with students is to always create a supportive environment where they can develop their understanding of whichever science they are studying, so that they can feel confident come exam time!

About the lesson

My lessons are for GCSE and A-level science courses in the UK. My lessons will be an hour long, they're interactive sessions where we will work together to cover everything from mastering the basics, exam questions and techniques and whatever areas you struggle with the most. My aim throughout will be to maximise your understanding so you will not just remember the facts you are taught but instead be able to apply your knowledge of the subject to a wide array of questions, breaking down the fear of exams and tough questions into more manageable chunks. I will offer advice on how to approach the exams themselves which is what I used to tackle them myself. Having been in your shoes not long ago I understand the demands a student and person in their teenage years is under, especially around examinations. They will always be scary but I hope I can make concepts and exam questions alike feel more manageable, boosting your grades and reducing the stress you're under in the process.

Alfie is my friend and university housemate. He has helped me on numerous occoasions with the chemistry in my medicine course.
He is easily approachable and very supportive in aiding my understanding in anything im struggling with.

I know Alfie from school. Alfie is patient and understanding which makes him perfect for tutees of all abilities.
