Being a Law student you have heard about Section 6 IPC.
So, Let's talk about section 6 of Indian Penal Code :-
It starts with the words "Throughout this Code".
First of all, This sections talks about the application of General Exceptions given in Chapter IV of IPC. This section impose a statutory duty upon the court to consider whether any general exception applies to the accused or not,even if accused raised any plea of general exception.
So it means, General Exceptions applies only on IPC as the words used are " Throughout this Code".
No, we have to read Section 40 (Para 2) of IPC i.e., OFFENCE, which denotes a thing punishable under this code or any special or local law.
Hence, we can say General Exceptions are applicable not only on IPC but also on special or local laws.
