About Lucy
I have taught for over ten years in Inner city primary schools, both as a class teacher and small or 1:1 catch-up sessions. I am particularly skilled at developing early reading strategies (phonics, comprehension and fluency) and helping mathematicians become fluent in the fundamental units of place value and number.
I have high expectations of my students and will make sure that we work in a precise way which targets small gaps in learning and misconceptions in order to make greater progress in the more complex learning steps.
I present learning content in a fun and engaging way which ensures that new content is learnt in accessible steps and success is a common output. However, I will also ensure that students meet challenges and barriers along the way to help them overcome obstacles and become resilient learners. I have worked as a mental health lead in primary schools and am able to support children with the challenges and worries of school life.
I am currently working part time as a Special Educational Needs teacher in a primary school and am doing a masters in special needs. In my free time, I love walking, playing board games and eating out with friends.
