About Camila
Over eighteen years I have taught 910 students ESL, a career spanning long enough that I have occasionally taught the younger siblings of students I first met many years earlier. My own background spans years of work with newcomers, informal community teaching, and years of genuine teaching experience across an extremely wide range of ages and goals. I am known among long-term students for being genuinely adaptable and endlessly patient, a reputation built from encountering nearly every kind of learning and motivational challenge imaginable. I remain just as genuinely engaged with a brand new beginner today as I was with my very first student two decades ago.

After eighteen years of teaching ESL, I place enormous value on adapting my approach individually rather than applying one fixed method to every single student who happens to walk through the door. With beginners I focus consistently on slow, comfortable habit building, while with more advanced students I move steadily toward independent, exploratory conversation practice with far less direct guidance provided. I draw on nearly two decades of accumulated teaching experience, usually already knowing several different explanations for a stubborn grammatical difficulty when a standard approach is not genuinely working. Vocabulary and grammar exercises are always connected directly to real conversation, ensuring every drill genuinely feels immediately purposeful and practical.
