• This wasn't a weekend course. DLI is intense — strict standards, native instructors, no coasting through. Hitting a 2+/2/2 means my French got tested and verified, not just self-reported on a profile.

About the lesson

Bonjour! I'm a French linguist trained at the Defense Language Institute (DLI), where I studied under native French professors and graduated with a 2+/2/2 score on the Defense Language Proficiency Test — a government benchmark reflecting near-native command of the language, well above typical academic French programs.

Beyond grammar and vocabulary, my training included deep cultural and regional expertise, so lessons go beyond textbook French into how the language is actually used — idioms, current events, regional variation, and cultural context that make you sound (and think) like a real French speaker, not just a fluent test-taker.
